I was recently commissioned by Richard Evans at Atlantic Books to create an illustrated cover for "Following Fish" by Samanth Subramanian, a lovely book chronicling travels around India's coast.

A Tuscan Wedding Invitation

I was delighted to be asked to create an illustration for my dear friends' wedding invitation. The couple will be married in a castle Tuscany so I let myself be inspired by beautiful Florentine paper designs and also managed to incorporate the castle into the border.

Glug Brighton 2012

I recently did some live painting at Glug Brighton's 2012 networking event. My image was based around the word "Create". The evening was jolly good fun and a great success.

New Ceramics

Some time ago I collaborated with the ceramicist Mary Fenton on a small range of hand etched ceramics. I spent some lovely afternoons in her studio where she taught me how to etch and glaze as well as plenty of tea drinking and chatting. Sadly Mary became ill again with cancer during and she died early last year. She was a wonderfully talented artist and the most warm, kind and funny person you could ever hope to meet. Her friends and family recently completed work that she didn't manage to finish before her illness stopped her from working including a couple of pieces I had worked on with her. Here they are. You can see previous work I did with Mary here.

Coffee Cups for Japan!

I was recently commissioned by Seki Systems in Japan, to design a pattern to decorate three paper coffee cups. I created a design that communicated the warm and cosy feeling you get when you stop for a tea or coffee break. The "Alice Cup" will be used in cafes and restaurants across Japan.

I was recently commissioned by Wardour to create illustrations for Loyds TSB's Ideas Magazine about emerging markets.

Cover for First Story

I created this cover illustration for "Blink of an Eye", an anthology of stories by students at Woodside High School. It is published by First Story which is a fantastic charity that send professional writers into UK state schools to do creative writing projects with students. RIP Zdenek Miler

Last night when I was sitting beside the fire with my parents reading the papers my mum suddenly handed me a copy of the Times and said "Look! Your mole man has died!". After being momentarily mystified I realised that she meant Znedek Miler, the Czech creator of The Little Mole cartoons had died aged 90. You can read all about his life and work in his obituary here. My friend Alice Maddicott first introduced me to The Mole and the green star a few years ago and I have been smitten with these delightful Czech children's animations ever since. They are gentle and playful films and little mole is a charming and slightly silly character. The beautifully hand painted back drops reflect their creators deep love of the natural world. Watch him do battle with a grumpy gardener in this one.

Drawing whilst watching Frozen Planet. I am hypnotised by jagged patterns in the landscape and the harsh rhythm of it's inhabitants' lives.
